What is a Death Cafe?
At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea (fermented tea for ones held at UFF) and discuss death. Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.
A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. This is an invitation to celebrate life and notice the beauty of each moment that brings us one step closer to death. How we are all woven together and the reality of all of us leaving these sweet bodies opens the space to the wonderment of it all. Gina Colombatto is amazed, awed, inspired, and intrigued by death. She has facilitated groups with teens making life choices, hospice clients working through loss, designed and created community art projects and has hosted DeadDogDinah, a radio show to keep the death conversation alive!
(Please note: this event will continue past our normal closing time, but the taps will be closed at 7pm still for any purchases)
